Mainwave Limited was founded by Mark Whitaker after many years working in the software industry. This page tells you a bit more about me and the values I have brought to Mainwave.
I have worked in the software industry for over 10 years in a variety of companies and roles.
Most recently I was Vice President of a software house in Manchester, UK, where I managed large projects for
major international corporations such as Nokia,
Avaya,
Walt Disney Internet Group and
Symbian.
I've also worked with much smaller companies, right down to one-man bands. I've experienced the growing pains that organisations of all sizes go through as they enter new phases of their development.
Before working in project management, I was a software engineer and technical consultant. I have designed and written software for PCs, handheld computers and mobile phones, as well as developing websites and network services. I have also delivered training courses and conference papers worldwide.
I hold a 1st Class BA (Hons) in German and Management Studies from the University of Leeds, and an MSc in Computing Science from the University of Newcastle. For the latter I was awarded the Sage Prize for Excellence in Computer Science, and the Andersen Consulting Prize for Outstanding Group Work.
